As you may have read by now, the organization that we started, The Hunger Strike, was forced to cease the use of the name, branding and online communications to avoid a federal lawsuit. The lawsuit was solely over the use of the organization name and didn’t involve any fraudulent or criminal activity, especially related to the use of funds. All past & future donations have remained secure and will be used for its intended purpose.

As many of you know, 2013 will start our 8th year as a touring band! This past year, we had the opportunity to record and release The Love on the outside E.P. (Produced by Aaron Gillespie) on a pay-what-you-can basis (digitally & at all shows), making it available to over 10,000 people! What you may not know is that as a band, we started a non-profit organization called The Hunger Strike as an effort to mobilize missionaries, advocates and 1 Million Nutritious Meals for hungry children as a Gospel-Centered response to physical and spiritual poverty worldwide. Here is a glimpse at what God did in 2012 through the ministry of Willet/The Hunger Strike:

• Shared the Gospel and performed 9 times in London during the 2012 Summer Olympics

• 288 Children from Mozambique Sponsored through Food For The Hungry

• Mobilized 120,000 nutritious meals for hungry children through The Hunger Strike

• Opened for Family Force 5 & Disciple on 25 City U.S. Tour

• Distributed 10,000+ copies of “Love on the outside E.P.” (Produced by Aaron Gillespie) on Pay-What-You-Can basis

• Performed on 11 city U.S. Tour with Project 86

• Performed 100+ “Love on the outside Tour” dates, including major festivals w/ Switchfoot, Newsboys, & David Crowder

We often talk about how HUNGER, both physical (children starving due to lack of food) and spiritual (entire groups of people that have never heard the name of Jesus) is an EMERGENCY.

2012 for Willet was a step towards reaching the nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ by making our album available on a pay-what-you-can-basis.

2013 is the leap of faith.

Today we are releasing “The Love on the outside Acoustic EP“. Recorded in Iowa while on tour with Family Force 5 & Disciple, we used an acoustic guitar, acoustic bass, rhodes, piano, harmonica, hand percussion and group vocals to record this ACOUSTIC version of the 2012 “Love on the outside E.P.” (Produced by Aaron Gillespie). All “tips” for this download benefit the non-profit organization that we started as a band called The Hunger Strike. A SUGGESTED TIP OF $5 WILL MOBILIZE MISSIONARIES, ADVOCATES & 8 MEALS FOR HUNGRY CHILDREN.

This is a glimpse of “whats-to-come” for the ministry of Willet & The Hunger Strike.

Not much will change for you as a music fan of Willet…we will still continue to release albums, tour the country leading worship/performing, and we will still even continue printing Willet merchandise. It is with great joy that we write you today. As many of you know, over the past 60 days, we have been promoting a “kickstarter campaign” to raise $25,000 for a full-length Willet album. With only 6 days left, and over $17,000 to raise, things were looking a bit dim.

We are writing you today to let you know that we have “cancelled” the kickstarter campaign because….THE ALBUM HAS BEEN FULLY FUNDED BY PRIVATE DONORS!

We have been on the road with Family Force 5 & Disciple over the past month, and during this tour, we’ve had the opportunity to sit down with some great friends and share our vision for the band, and for our full-length record. Through these conversations, the Lord led a few families to commit to funding our new album privately! Wow!!

We have cancelled the Kickstarter campaign because the donors prefer to donate directly to the band rather then through Kickstarter (because Kickstarter takes a %). We recognize that 40+ people had made pledges in hopes to receive some incentives, and we want to let you know that you will not be forgotten. People that made pledges on Kickstarter will receive a message requesting an address where we can send you a thank-you gift. Because the Kickstarter is being cancelled, your credit card WILL NOT be charged.

We plan to hit the studio with producer, Aaron Gillespie, in 2013 to record the full-length album.
